HKN Elections

Tuesday, November 18th, Everitt 165 at 6:00-8:00pm

The HKN elections for next semester are approaching! Becoming a member of the board is an excellent way to get leadership experience, and stay involved in HKN. The president and vice president must be former board members, but any member can run for any other position. Yes, even people initiating this semester can run (and are encouraged to do so). For more information, please contact an HKN officer.

Power Lunch - James Coleman

Tuesday, November 4th, Illini Union Ballroom, Noon-1:30pm

Just like the previous, but this time with professor James Coleman! Our school is known for our ECE department, our ECE deparment is known for our semiconductor field, and that field is largely known for professor Coleman. With extensive knowledge in the field, including solid state lasers, you can have lunch free courtesy of the ECE department if you just show up! 1 point will be given for this event.

On another note, Professor Cangellaris's Power Lunch has been canceled for the time being.

Super Smash Brawl Tournament

Friday, November 7th, 314B Union, 7:00pm-Midnight

Come to the Brawl Tournament and show off your playing skills! There will be a singles and a doubles tournament, and it costs $3 for each tournament, and only $5 total if you sign up for both. There will be great prizes given to the winners, and great fun for everyone! Just bring your controller, and make sure you get there 30 min early for registration and sign ups. There will be a sign up sheet in the HKN office, so make sure you sign up! But remember to get there on time, because only the first 32 singles and 16 doubles teams will be allowed to participate! Two points will be awarded for this event.

Broomball Tournament

Saturday, November 15th, Ice Arena at 10:15pm to 1:15am

HKN is organizing a college-wide broomball tournament. Grab some friends, make a team, come out and have some fun! There will be 6 to 8 players per team. $5 per person. Food will be provided. Sign ups are avaible at xrl.us/HKNBroomball. Due date for signup and payment by November 8th. Those signed up may pay at the HKN office.

Vision Committee

Engineering Futures Workshop

Saturday, November 15th, Everitt 163 at 1:00pm

As part of the Engineering Futures program, Tau Beta Pi is hosting a workshop on basic people skills, created from training materials used in more than half of all Fortune 500 companies. Industry-relevant examples designed specifically for engineers will be incorporated into videos and role-playing. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, spaces are limited. TBP-IEEE Etiquette Dinner

Thursday, November 20th, Illini Union Colonial Room at 6:00-8:00pm

Tau Beta Pi will be hosting its annual etiquette dinner with IEEE this year. There will be an instructor who will guide particpants through a full course meal.
