New Meeting Time for Vision Committee

Wednesdays at 7pm in the HKN Office(243 Everitt)

The HKN Vision Committee is an opportunity to help create and support new ideas within HKN. It is a great venue to have your voice heard and it is an opportunity to gain further knowledge of the organization. Meetings will now be held on Wednesdays at 7pm in the HKN Office (243 Everitt). All initiates and members are welcome. Joining the Vision Committee and participating (by attending at least 4 meetings and helping to support new ideas) will earn you 5 initiation points! Please contact Tom Comberiate ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you would like to add topics to the weekly agenda or if you have specific questions about the committee. Let your voice be heard by joining the Vision Committee!

HKN Blog

Most of you have taken a look at Dr. Everitt's Neighborhood (DEN) by now. It serves as a magazine with course reviews and well-written articles on similar topics. As an attempt to complement DEN, the blog would provide up-to-date information on such topics from multiple sources. The only way to make correct academic choices is through discussion - with faculty, advisors, and peers. A blog achieves exactly this. Please contact Sujeeth Bharadwaj ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you would like to contribute.

Initiates will receive points

ICTM

May 2, 2009

The Mathematics Department is seeking volunteers for the ICTM (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics) High School Math Contest to be held on the UIUC campus on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Over 3000 high school students from around the state will be here that day, and we need about 200 volunteers to proctor, grade, enter data, usher, time oral competitions and many other jobs! For most of the jobs, you don't need any special qualifications. Some volunteers are also needed during the week before May 2. Go to http://www.math.uiuc.edu/ictm to sign up.

3 points awarded for attending.

Barcrawl T-shirts

For this semester's barcrawl, we're accepting t-shirt designs. Send a t-shirt design to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and get a point for a (legitimate) submission, two points (and ultimate glory) if your design is used in the barcrawl. Some ideas: nerdy engineering shirts, election, the economy, or general drinking. Look for the barcrawl after Spring Break! Feel free to just send in a saying or idea if you don't have time for a fully fleshed out design. Designs needed by this Friday.
